These images of Chesnutt Park were taken in April 2022. This park is located at 4565 North Granite Reef Road. This 5-acre park includes a playground, spray pad, two lighted tennis courts and two drop-in ramadas.
In 1965, the City of Scottsdale purchased the 1920's vintage Chesnutt house and property. (R. A. Chesnutt had been a state legislator from Scottsdale in the 1920's.) The property became a neighborhood park in 1967. The Chesnutt house became the city's first senior center and recreation building. The Chesnutt house was too small for senior activities so the city built a new senior center in 1976 at the corner of Civic Center Boulevard and Second Street (this would later be replaced by the current Granite Reef Senior Center).
