José Maria Burruel, author of "Mexicans in Scottsdale," spent his early childhood in late 1920s and 1930s in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was the first Mexican American to earn a doctorate of philosophy from Arizona State University. In his book, José talks about the "Mexicanos,' the first people to live in the neighborhood that now makes up the center of Old Scottsdale and in this interview, those early days are recounted.
