This interview of Alice Frederick Clayton, the wife of Scottsdale Mayor C. W. Clayton, was conducted by Dorothy Orr on 5/30/1979. Mrs. Clayton moved to Scottsdale in 1919 and her father, Al Frederick, was the constable until his death in 1950. She describes early Scottsdale and her family's background in cattle ranches, shares stories of Constable Frederick, and mentions prominent Scottsdale citizens she knew. She also discusses how her mother, Ivy Donn Frederick, completed the remainder of her father's term as constable after his death.
