After heavy rains in June, 1972, the canal in Scottsdale overflowed it's banks, creating widespread street flooding. This is considered the worst flood in the city's history and caused millions of dollars in property damage. Floodwaters divided the city at Hayden Road. One man drowned and 17 families were left homeless. Later in an extraordinary feat of engineering, the flooding of this area was prevented when the Indian Bend Wash Recreation & Flood Control Project was completed in 1985. Images #0504 and #0505 were taken at 74th and E. Bonita Drive, and #0506 is at Woodmere Fairway.
